University Nursery

Students and staff are eligible to apply for a place at the University of Dundee Nursery located in the Dundee University Students' Association (DUSA) building. This provides a maximum of 40 places for children aged between 2-5 years and helps prepare children for entry into primary education.

Places are available full-time or part-time, booked per semester in advance. There is often a waiting list so we are unable to guarantee an on demand service and you are advised to enquire and apply early. Children under 2 can be added to the waiting list in advance. The Nursery is registered with the Childcare Voucher Scheme.

Opening Hours

The University Nursery is open from 8.15am - 5.15pm Monday through Friday and remains open during the vacations, where provision is offered on a pre-book basis in an arrangement of sessions to suit the needs of the parents.

Nursery Staff

All staff are qualified to SNNB or HNC level and have either gained, or are working toward, a PDA in Childcare and Education. The staff to children ratio is 1 adult per 5 children (2-3 years), and 1 adult to 8 children (3-5 years).

Assistance with Childcare Costs

Childcare costs can affect the ability of students to consider coming to University or, if existing arrangements change, their ability to remain here.

Financial Aid from the Scottish Government provides the University with Childcare Funds (commonly referred to as Discretional Funds) to assist student parents with formal childcare arrangements during semester. Limited support may be available during the summer eg for those needing to resit exams or attend academically required placements. Please see Student Funding for more information and the application form.
