Room Bookings and Central Timetabling

Welcome to the Room Bookings and Timetabling home page. From here you should be able to access a range of information about room bookings and timetabling.

This includes the staff and work of the Central Timetabling Service; and the University's pool of centrally-managed teaching and meeting rooms (including their audio-visual and IT facilities) and IT suites, how to book them and how they are maintained. There are facilities to request a booking of a pooled room (via Web Room Bookings; see accompanying guidance notes on how to use) and to view current room and/or module timetables (via Current Timetables; also see accompanying guidance notes).

Updates on timetabling and room management will be supplied when appropriate below.

** Pinned notices
Use of teaching rooms: Good Practice
Users of teaching rooms are politely reminded of the University's policies that:
- teaching timetables/room allocations are based on room turnover on the hour. Activities in pooled rooms should finish by five minutes to the hour at the latest to allow for change-over time;
- furniture in flat-floor rooms which is moved during a class should be restored to its default layout (defined on this site) at the end of that class;
- Schools must alert the CTS as soon as possible of any pooled room bookings which they find they no longer require.
- Wherever possible, please use the roombooking@dundee.ac.uk e-mail address to make room booking enquiries, rather than the phone!

** Update (22 September 2009)
Use of Web Room Bookings

Can users of WRBs please remember to include a module code when making a booking for a teaching event, or an event description for a non-teaching event. We are keen to avoid excessive numbers of generic booking names on the system, and these are not helpful when displaying booking information on-line and outside rooms. Many thanks.

** Update (14 July 2009)
Changes to centrally-managed rooms in 2009/10

There will be a number of changes to the pool of centrally-managed teaching and meeting rooms taking effect from the 2009/10 session. Please click here for further details.

** Update (10 July 2009)
Bookable Library Rooms name changes

Can users please note the following room name changes of bookable rooms in the Main Library: the IT Teaching Room now to be renamed the Watson Watt IT Teaching Room; and Meeting Room 2 now to be renamed the Fairlie Meeting Room.

** Update (23 September 2008)
New Teaching / Dalhousie Building

Please note that the name of the New Teaching Building will change to 'Dalhousie' with effect from 24 September 2008! Guidance notes relating to the Dalhousie Building and its facilities are available. Please note that layout alterations have been made to a number of Dalhousie rooms, to take effect from the 2008/9 session, to take account of demand and the use made of them last year. The new layouts, along with updated photographs of the altered rooms, are now on display in the Rooms Catalogue, and are detailed specifically here.
