Public Engagement funding opportunities

Funding your public engagement activities can often be the first hurdle to running your own events. Thankfully there are a wide-range of different sources of funding available from large grants from charities and public bodies to society and private sponsorship

This section of our website attempts to give a comprehensive review of routes to securing public engagement funding.

Don't forget that research grants from six of the seven Research Councils now ask you to supply an ‘Impact Plan’, which can be fully economically costed. Research grants now provide an excellent opportunity to fund projects that link research with public engagement.

You can find out more about how to secure public engagement funding when writing your research grant applications in our Funding Public Engagement through Research Grants section.

In addition, many activities, such as school visits can be delivered using little or no funds. Click here for our guide to what can be achieved with limiting funding.

Finally, if you don't want to think about securing funding then why not join one of the free, existing public engagement schemes, like ‘STEM Ambassadors’. Visit our page on externally funded opportunities here.
