These awards are available to overseas (but not EU) research students accepted for, or already following, full time research programmes. The ORSAS scheme pays the difference between the tuition fee for a home postgraduate student and the 'full cost' fee chargeable to an overseas postgraduate student. General information on the ORSAS and on participating Universities is available at http://www.orsas.ac.uk/ , but this page will provide all the information you need to be able to make an application for an ORSAS award at the University of Dundee.
Although ORS awards are substantial in amount, successful applicants still have to meet the home rate of fee and the full cost of their maintenance from other sources.
Selection of candidates is carried out by a sub-group of the University's Postgraduate Affairs Sub-Committee. The only criteria applied in the selection of candidates are academic quality and research potential: no other factors are taken into account.
The notes of guidance on the procedure for the selection and submission of applications emphasise the need for the references to be as informative as possible so as to serve the best interests of the applicant.
Completed ORS application forms must be returned to the Postgraduate Office, Registry, 1 Airlie Place, by (Date TBC). It is however advisable for applications to be submitted well before the closing date.
