The Core Role of School Presidents

The following provides details of the contract stating the core role of school presidents drafted by the Student Representation Working Group and each School President will be asked to sign this agreement when they stand for election. These duties may be supplemented by other duties as agreed by mutual consent between the president, the dean and the school secretary.

School Presidents' Agreement

This contract constitutes an agreement between the University of Dundee and Dundee University Students' Association and the undersigned, in their role as a School President. It outlines exactly what is expected in the role of School President, providing the individual with an outline of their role and what they are entitled to in return for their service to student representation at Dundee University. These duties may be supplemented by other duties as agreed by mutual consent between the president, the dean and the school secretary.

School Presidents' Entitlements

If the School President has fulfilled the above roles to the satisfaction of their school, the Deputy President of DUSA and the office of the Academic Secretary then they will be entitled to the following.

  1. Incentives as supplied by DUSA. This may take the form of complimentary tickets or free entry to the building on specific nights but will never take the form of alcohol;
  2. Complementary invitation to the annual DUSA Students' Awards Dinner;
  3. A signed reference from the Academic Secretary and the DUSA Deputy President indicating the importance of the roles performed for the University and DUSA. This will refer to the range of transferable skills required to undertake the post effectively;
  4. A letter from the Academic Secretary confirming that the person has completed a given number of hours as a volunteer; this can be used as evidence for the Millennium Volunteers' Award as well as other schemes;
  5. The full support of the Employability Development Coordinator in the completion of a My PDP personal development profile and the Dundee Graduate Skills Award.
