External examiners play an important role in validating Examination Board decisions in relation to assessment and their reports are considered at school boards and Academic Quality Sub-Committee. The document Guidance on External Examining of Undergraduate and Taught Postgraduate Programmes including the Conduct of Examination Boards summarises policy regarding the role, powers and responsibilities that the University assigns to its external examiners for taught provision.

In agreement with the format for the European Diploma Supplement, relevant information is given in student transcripts and module and programme specifications. Students can view their developing transcripts using the eVision component of SITS or via the link within My PDP, the University's personal development planning scheme.
