Research Interests

I completed my PhD. in Social Psychology at Dundee University in 2011, and was supervised by Dr. Nick Hopkins. My PhD. research concerned the act of help-seeking, and investigated whether group members may use help-seeking as a tool to manage and enhance their group's image in the eyes of others. In general terms, my research interests lie within the domains of Social Identity Theory and Self Categorization Theory, and the implications of group membership for people's everyday lives.

I am currently employed at Dundee University as a post-doctoral researcher on 4-year ESRC-funded project run by Professor Fabio Sani. This is a longitudinal and cross-national study on the effects of identification with groups (e.g., the family, community, and workplace) on health and well-being, and will involve over 4,000 participants.

Teaching

I was the Level 2 demonstrator for three years during my PhD., which involved teaching report-writing skills and organising the marking of students' course-work. I teach Social Psychology on the DUAL Summer School course (University of Dundee, 2009-2011).

I also teach Social Psychology on the Part-time Online Access course (University of Dundee, 2011).

I have helped a number of senior Honours Students with their dissertation research, which culminated in me co-writing a paper that was published in Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin.
