Biography
I joined the University of Dundee as a PhD student in 2006. My research is concerned with the association between personality traits and cognitive abilities; specifically memory processes. I use EEG methods to examine neurophysiological variations in the processes associated with episodic retrieval across personality groupings. I am most interested in the personality dimension of introversion/extraversion. This personality dimension has been related to the VTA dopamine incentive motivation system, a system which has also been implicated in so-called “cognitive control” operations. I wish to determine if this motivational system, which is claimed to give rise to many of the behavioural characteristics associated with the introversion/extraversion dimension, has an impact on the strategic control of retrieval of information from episodic memory.
