Research interests:
My interests lie broadly in the area of attention function. I am particularly interested in investigating the cognitive characteristics of switching between internal modes of cognition (i.e. the thoughts in one’s head) and attending to events in the external world. Throughout my PhD research I aim to explore the functional role of the ventral frontoparietal network (stimulus-driven system) and its relationship with regards to ‘switching’ between the dorsal frontoparietal network (goal-driven system) and the default network. In order to investigate this electroencephalography will be combined with functional magnetic resonance imaging.
Previously I have investigated event-related potential signatures of episodic memory retrieval as a function of individual differences in personality (in collaboration with Dr. Astrid Schloerscheidt and Graham Dingwall). I have also researched the effects of moderate aerobic exercise on source memory performance (in collaboration with Dr. Astrid Schloerscheidt).
