Strategic Review

A strategic review of the University focusing on excellence and impact in education and research has now been underway for some time.  The review has resulted in a number of projects which will support the aims of Excellence, Focus and Impact and which will deliver anticipated staff reductions of 193 posts across the University, generating savings of £10m.

This page provides links to relevant papers around the Strategic Review and further information on voluntary severance.

Strategic Review Briefings - Feburary 2011

Four strategic review briefings took place during the week commencing 14 February 2011, each hosted by one of the Vice-Principals. Below are links to the slides used at these events, as well as to a list of the most frequently asked questions. Staff are also invited to make further suggestions for possible savings via a dedicated email address: SavingsSuggestions@dundee.ac.uk.

Strategic Framework

Our Strategic Framework to 2012 provides a guide for the University as it delivers its mission in a complex and challenging world. We will promote translational research, high standards and new approaches to professional education and training, creative and innovative working between disciplines and a focus on contemporary issues like globalisation, climate change and sustainability.

The Strategic Framework identifies seven key aims for the period to 2012. These reinforce the overall direction of the University, and provide a template for action and a basis for monitoring progress.

Comments on the Strategic Framework are welcome and should be addressed to principal@dundee.ac.uk.

Further Information

The following document, which was seen by both Senate and Court at earlier meetings, sets the academic context within which the review has been carried out, and staff may find it useful to read it in conjunction with the review document itself.
