Burning Bush 2: Doing Time

Dundee will become a gallery in May when 15 artists converge on the city for a unique three-day event exploring the future of work, leisure and time.

From fusions of art and business to cyber-skiving, Burning Bush 2: Doing Time is an exciting project featuring new work by 15 UK and international artists including New York's Coco Fusco, Paul Rooney and the FANCLUB collective.

The collaborative project by the visual research centre, the Cooper Gallery, Dundee Contemporary Arts and Generator Projects aims to build on chance meetings between artists and the public and promises to spark lively debate on contemporary society and modern art.

VRC resident artist Roddy Hunter will be taking his audience on a tour of Dundee, from Perth Road to the Law, examining the boundaries put in place in public spaces. Monica Ross will fuse her art with business when she takes her own work to NCR, while the viewers will also get their say when Lucy Kimble investigates what Joe Public's ideal job might be.

Mike Stubbs, resident researcher at Duncan of Jordanstone and one of the founders of the Burning Bush project, said, "Our sense of purpose is defined through work, but perhaps a greater responsibility is often ignored - as to whether we are doing our work as human beings. This is perhaps one of the roles of the artist."

Burning Bush 2: Doing Time takes place in local galleries, DCA Cinema, and non-art spaces around Dundee between May 10,11 and 12. For more information, go to www.burning.info.
