You are who you think you are! Self confidence is the belief you can achieve and succeed. It starts with a parent helping a child to feel worthwhile and loved. Self confidence affects our entire life. In general the rougher things get on the outside the greater the need for self-worth on the inside. In our busy working lives, it's important to project an image of confidence and poise. Our workmates and colleagues tend to judge us on the image we project. A confident image will help set you apart and give you skills to deal with a variety of issues in our ever changing workplace.
The aim of the workshop is to introduce participants to issues of self confidence and self esteem and to impart several confidence-creating, confidence-building life affirming tips. And to encourage people to see how some changes in the workplace can be great opportunities.

Whether it is for a job appraisal, internal promotion or a position in a new company, the interview is likely to be a deciding factor. At its simplest, the dynamics of an interview are easy to understand. The candidate wants a job, desires a promotion or hopes to shine in an appraisal. The interviewer has to figure out whether to give an offer to a candidate. Research suggests that the interview is over the in the first four minutes. It is critical that the interviewee gives a good first impression.
On the other hand, drafting a CV is seen as one of the first steps in the job hunt. It is a marketing document aimed at getting your "foot in the door". You can create a CV that makes you really stand out as a superior candidate. To write an effective CV you will have to learn how to think and write in a style that will be completely new to you. There is an art to creating a self-marketing tool which communicates your value to potential employers. It should represent an accurate description of your knowledge skills and experience. Above all it must describe your abilities and achievements.
Objectives:
At the conclusion of the seminar, participants should be able to:
Feedback CV Surgery
Participants who have sent the training provider their CVs in advance are invited to sign up for a short 10 minute session on a firstcome first-served basis. The feedback will only recommend any changes. There is no guarantee that you will be invited for a job interview or offered the job you are applying for. The CV Surgery is intended to help to improve the quality and marketability of your CV.
Lunch will be provided.

safeTALK is a half day session aimed at giving participants the skills to recognise that someone may be suicidal and to connect the person to someone with suicide intervention skills.
Can you recognise the signs of someone at risk of suicide? Would you know what to say to a member of staff, student, family member or contact with thoughts of suicide? Most persons with thoughts of suicide go unrecognised - even though most are, directly or indirectly, requesting help. Without safeTALK training, these invitations to help are too rarely accepted, or even noticed. In only a few hours, you will learn how to recognise these invitations and provide practical help to persons with thoughts of suicide. Expect to leave safeTALK more willing and able to perform an important helping role for persons with thoughts of suicide. The workshop is suitable for anyone within the University community but may be especially helpful for those people with a pastoral/welfare/support role and academic advisors.

Email is one of many powerful marketing and communication tools. With so many ways to communicate, there are also increased opportunities to rub someone up the wrong way. Email with its speed and immediacy can give rise to communication breakdowns. There are many issues which impact on the quality of the emails we send, and with over 100 email messages clogging up the average office professional's inbox on a daily basis it can be impossible to find the ones we actually need. And there is often an imbalance in email between the sender and the receiver.
In the session participants will identify best practice in sending email messages and also consider ways of approaching, organising and prioritising their email correspondence.
