Town and Regional Planning

Town and Regional Planning has a thriving research environment with a supportive infrastructure. Research activity is focused around the following:

The Joint Centre for Scottish Housing Research acts as the Research Co-ordinators for the European Observatory on Homelessness. The Centre also monitors activity in relation to affordable housing provision in England and in Scotland for central government and the Scottish Executive.

The Centre for Urban Conservation and Urban Studies is engaged in action research on building preservation with the Tayside Building Preservation Trust.

Postgraduate study in the School is linked directly to the ongoing research work. Applications are particularly encouraged in academic areas related to these research activities and priorities.

Research interests are related to the work of the three research groups and supervision for MPhil or PhD is available in these areas and others:

Environmental management and sustainable development

Ecological modernisation, sustainable development, management and participatory planning.
