Nursing and Midwifery Research Interests

Overview

The School of Nursing and Midwifery is leading healthcare research to promote health, well-being, social participation and caring throughout the lifespan. We achieved outstanding results in the Research Assessment Exercise 2008, ranked 2nd in Scotland, with the majority of the School's research classed as 'internationally excellent' in terms of originality and significance.

Our research focuses on improving patient/client outcomes where close partnership between clinicians and researchers, and between University and NHS, characterize the research environment. Staff in the School undertake innovative research that has delivered tangible benefit and impact to a range of communities. It has brought improvements to patient care, influenced Government and public policy and improved the public understanding of health care research.

The research undertaken within the School of Nursing and Midwifery focuses on Personalising Care with a view to enhancing health and broader well-being. All our research activities are underpinned by two cross-cutting themes, Inequalities and e-Health, which critically align research, education and clinical practice.

We only accept proposals that fit in with our Research Programme, and especially if they relate to our areas of expertise in cancer care, maternal and infant health, long term conditions, rehabilitation, acute care, domestic abuse or disability.  Please contact us to discuss your plans.
