The Division of Mathematics is internationally renowned for its research strengths in Applied Mathematics. As well as research in single disciplines there are many examples of successful interdisciplinary research, eg the SIMBIOS Centre in Mathematical Biology. Regular international conferences are organised, and there is a lively seminar programme, involving local and visiting speakers.
