Aims of the Module

Teaching & Assessment

"It was great to be doing research instead of just reading about it. Thanks for the support."

The first part of the double module is delivered online by learning materials, online discussion boards and online and email academic contact. Students then have individual supervisors to see them through their proposal, research undertaking, and writing up.

E-learning offers students easy access to web resources and documents needed for their studies, as well as facilitating discussions and the exchange of ideas with fellow students and tutors. Anyone with access to the internet and basic IT skills will be able to use MyDundee.

The assessment is by a written dissertation of 20,000 words based upon an approved empirical research project relevant to the named award, or an approved critical review of practice or policy relevant to the named award. The dissertation is marked by two internal examiners (the supervisor and one other). Their agreed mark must be approved by the external examiner. Students may be required to undergo a viva voce examination of their work at the discretion of the external examiner, or board of examiners.
