The programme of courses is designed to allow a progression from an introduction to medical education, through the award of a Certificate and Diploma to the award of a Master's Degree. You can exit at any of these four points with a valuable award or qualification. Visit the Centre for Medical Education website for details of specific qualifications for Anaesthetists, General Practioners and Surgeons.
To enable the individual participant to achieve the educational outcomes required for effective teaching and support of learning. Participants on the MMEd programe will also develop skills within a chosen area of Medical Education.

The course is modular, with core and specialist module options. Each module is accompanied by a study guide, which provides content, helps students to manage the learning experience and provides activities that integrate theory and practice. The following themes are covered:
Students are enrolled on to the Masters programme on successful completion of the Diploma in Medical Education, and if/when a proposal for a Masters project has been agreed by the Board of Studies.
Student support is provided via study guides, telephone guidance and email. Access to face-to-face individual tutorial help is available where practical. Students are encouraged to seek support according to their needs.
Written assignments and practical exercises on specific aspects of the programme material are used to assess your progress. Assessment is designed to test understanding of the material as it relates to each participant's own situation. Assignments are used as an opportunity to provide individual feedback and suggestions for future development of educational practice. The MMEd dissertation is also assessed.
You should be a health care professional or hold another appropriate qualification, participants need to complete the Diploma before starting the MMEd.
English Language Requirement:
Face to Face teaching IELTS of 6.5, with minimum of 6.0 in the Writing component and a preferred 6.0 in the other three components (no component below 5.5) (or equivalent), if your first language is not English.
Distance Learning IELTS of 7.0 with minimum of 6.5 in the Writing component and a preferred 6.0 in the other three components (no component below 5.5) (or equivalent), if your first language is not English.
