Aims of the Programme

This postgraduate degree, run in partnership with our colleagues in Economic Studies, is designed for graduates in subjects other than Computing or Economics/Business who feel that a postgraduate degree combining IT with Business would be a relevant and marketable addition to their existing qualifications.

Industry and commerce have an increasing need for IT-enabled decision makers and business-aware IT professionals. This postgraduate degree is designed to meet that need. The degree aims to give students a firm grounding in the knowledge, skills and understanding of computing, software development and the global business environment.

Programme Content

Six taught modules over two semesters (September-April), choose from a list such as the one below:

Project (May-September for MSc, May-June for Diploma) - a business-related software development project supervised by a member of staff, culminating in a dissertation.

Please note that some of the modules in the programme are shared with other masters programmes and some of the teaching and resources may be shared with our BSc programme. These joint classes offer a valuable opportunity to learn from, and discuss the material with, other groups of students with different backgrounds and perspectives.

Methods of Assessment

The taught modules are assessed by continuous assessment plus end of semester examinations in December and March/April. The project is assessed by dissertation.

Entry Requirements

You should have, or expect to have, a degree in a subject other than computing, with a grade equivalent to at least a Class 2.2 Honours degree from a UK university, or equivalent qualifications.

English Language Requirement: IELTS of 6.0 (or equivalent), if your first language is not English. Please check our Language Requirements page for details of equivalent grades from other test providers, and information about the University of Dundee English Language courses.
