To equip graduates wishing to pursue a career in environmental biology with the high degree of quantitative and molecular skills required by employers.
The programme is modular, and consists of 180 credits (European Community Course Credit Transfer system).
In Block 1 students study Basic Concepts in Ecology and Evolution and then choose a further three advanced knowledge modules from a selection of six. In Block 2 is the Research Toolbox, all students take a series of modules in core research skills. In Block 3, students will apply these tools in a substantial research project over a period of five months.
Normally, modules are assessed 60% by examinations and 40% by continuous assessment.
We have NERC funding for four studentships each year.
You should have, or expect to have a 2.1 honours degree or above in a relevant discipline (Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Cellular and Molecular aspects of Biology).
English Language Requirement: IELTS of 6.0 (or equivalent), if your first language is not English. Please check our Language Requirements page for details of equivalent grades from other test providers, and information about the University of Dundee English Language courses.
