Undergraduate Modules (2012-13)

Note: Due to staff restructuring some module specifications are subject to change.

Level 1 modules

The Level 1 module offers an introduction to Politics:

Many students also chose to take the interdisciplinary module The Globalizing World (HU12001).

Level 2 modules

Our two Level 2 modules are designed to provide an introduction to the essential theories, concepts and processes that are central to understanding politics and international relations:

Students taking Geopolitics and International Relations must also take a Level 2 Geography module (see the list of Geography modules), and those taking European Politics must take the interdisciplinary module 'Contemporary Challenges for Europe' in addition to 'Comparative Politics'.

On completing Level 2 and entering Level 3 you can decide to follow any of the four degree pathways as long as you have studied the required compulsory modules at levels 1 and 2.

Level 3 modules

The centrepiece of our Level 3 programme is the following module:

In addition to Theorising Politics, Single Honours students normally take three further optional modules chosen from the list below. Joint Honours students will normally take one further Politics module and two from their other subject.
