Dr Bailey graduated with a BA (Hons) in History from Southampton University, before spending several years in IT support at UK academic institutions. He returned to university to complete an MSc by Research in History at Edinburgh University and then a PhD in Politics at Dundee in 2010, where he has since worked as a Teaching Assistant and Teaching Fellow.
Undergraduate lecturing and teaching conducted in 2011-12 includes The Globalising World, International Relations, Political Ideologies, US Foreign Policy Since 1945 and Foreign Policy Decision Making: The Balkans Crisis Management Game. Postgraduate teaching includes seminar contributions on security studies and dissertation supervision for the MLitt in International Politics and Security.
Dr Bailey is a member of the Transatlantic Studies Association and has contributed to the organisation of the 2008 and 2011 Transatlantic Studies Conferences held in Dundee.
Research
Dr Bailey’s research has focused on the dynamics of military and diplomatic interdependency within the Transatlantic British and American relationship.Teaching
