Research
Dr MacQueen's current research is concerned with the theory and practice of peacekeeping and humanitarian intervention, especially in the context of the United Nations. In particular, he is concerned with the motivations that lead states to contribute forces to peace operations. He also has an interest in the different security relationships which develop between African countries and the European states (Britain, France and Portugal) of which they were formerly colonies and how these have developed since the time of independence.
