Journal of Transatlantic Studies

About the journal

The Journal of Transatlantic Studies is multi- and inter-disciplinary, publishing articles with a focus on the transatlantic region as an area with a distinct character and a rich history. It brings together in one publication various foci of study and disciplines:

  • Political science
  • Comparative constitutionalism
  • International relations
  • Security studies
  • History
  • Literature and culture
  • Geography and population studies
  • Planning and environment

While the majority of articles are on North American relations with Europe, there is an editorial policy of including at least one article per edition dealing with Spanish, or Portuguese or French speaking America (Dutch speaking America/Caribbean is dealt with on a case by case basis). This at least goes some way to redressing the imbalance of concentration on European relations with North America and the editorial board is clear that the emphasis might be shifted further over time towards Spanish, French and Portuguese speaking relationships, depending on demand and the quality of manuscript submissions.

As an added benefit individual subscribers to the journal automatically become members of the Transatlantic Studies Association.

For more details on the journal, including how to subscribe, please visit the Edinburgh University Press website.
