Academic / Professional Background:

Has acted as Director of the Joint Centre for Scottish Housing Research since 1990 and as research co-ordinator of the European Observatory on Homelessness since 1998. Research focus is in housing, with special emphasis on housing associations, homelessness and housing and community care. Has established and developed a series of national housing databases on housing association activity and supported accommodation and is currently responsible for the management of three databases - CORE (for the Housing Corporation in England), SCORE (for Scottish Homes and the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations) and SCOTSPEN (for Scottish Homes).
