Postgraduate degrees by research

In the period since 2001, 8 PhDs have been awarded and 1 DLitt. The following lists the topics covered by some of the recently successful doctoral candidates and some of the current doctoral students:

At present, The Geddes Institute has students registered for PhDs in subjects closely related to staff interests and research commissions. The research themes include planning and development, housing studies, social justice and planning and property development. There is a strong international dimension to this research portfolio.

There are two main ways of undertaking research in Town and Regional Planning at Dundee. One is by being admitted for a research degree. The other is by being admitted for a taught post-graduate degree that includes a research dissertation. The details are as follows:

  2. There are three professionally-accredited taught postgraduate programmes:
    1. MSc in Spatial Planning with specialisms in Environmental Assessment, Marine Spatial Planning, Sustainable Urban Design and Urban Conservation. This is a one year programme fully accredited by the RTPI. Contact David Kirk, e-mail r.d.kirk@dundee.ac.uk
