A positive future for planning education at Dundee

Prospects look good for planning students at Dundee University as over half of those in the final year of the accredited programme have already secured planning jobs, almost three months before their graduation. Five of those students, Alanna Lyle, Rob McIntosh, Robbie McNaugher, Jamie Scott and Gregor Spence have been offered positions with Aberdeenshire Council, while others are off to posts elsewhere in both the public and private sectors.

Following a review of Town and Regional Planning earlier this year, the University has made a commitment to the future of the discipline at Dundee as part of the recently-created School of Social Sciences. A new MSc qualification has been launched in Community Planning and Regeneration, which will complement the existing successful undergraduate planning degree; the distance learning planning Masters; and the MSc in European Urban Conservation. The new degree, which is part of the Applied Professional Studies programme, is aimed at practitioners seeking to enhance their professional practice through inquiry-based learning activities.
