First year:
Day field trips around the city of Dundee and the rural hinterland as part of the skills programme and integrated practical coursework, through the year;
Application for and selection of candidates for the Transatlantic Student Exchange Scheme and for the University of Northern British Columbia exchange (attracting the possibility of a £1000 scholarship) - between one and two EM students normally succeed in obtaining a place on these exchanges, which entail taking the second year of studies in a Canadian university on a comparable programme of work with full credit.
Second year:
Day field trip to site of special scientific interest (SSSI) as part of Natural Environment practical
Successful TSE and UNBC exchange candidates studying in Canada
Third year:
Term 1 day field trip to environmental business as part of EM33 coursework
Term 2 international study visit
As part of their studies in European Planning Practice, third year students currently have a field visit to a European country to learn about other approaches to urban planning and building conservation.
In previous years third year students have visited Malta, Belgium, Holland and Poland, as part of the European Spatial Planning module.
