Work experience placements
At the end of Semester 2 examinations, students undertake a six week placement with an approved conservation body known to the programme tutors - ranging from national regulatory agencies to conservation architects or the voluntary sector. Placements are matched as closely as possible to individual needs, interests and desired career paths. Employers report back on student performance to the Programme Director.
A broad range of conservation and heritage management agencies can be considered, such as:
- National monuments authority
- Cultural policy authority
- Local monuments authority
- Local authority urban conservation/planning departments
- International conservation agency/national branch
- Conservation architect practice
- Voluntary sector conservation groups
- Organisations responsible for the day-to-day management of historic sites or for historic town tourism
