Beth Lord on Spinoza and Religion

Dr Beth Lord of the Philosophy programme recently joined Dimitris Vardoulakis, lecturer at the University of Western Sydney, to discuss the philosopher Baruch Spinoza and religion. 

Part of the Sydney Seminar for the Arts and Philosophy, State Library of New South Wales, the event was recorded and broadcast on Australia’s Radio National as part of their Big Ideas series, and is now available online as a podcast at http://www.abc.net.au/rn/bigideas/stories/2011/3241135.htm.

Beth Lord also joined Alan Saunders on Radio National’s The Philosopher’s Zone to talk about “Spinoza's Atheist God”.  This broadcast is also available, both as an audio file and as a transcript, at http://www.abc.net.au/rn/philosopherszone/stories/2011/3231566.htm.

Beth is author of Spinoza's Ethics: An Edinburgh Philosophical Guide (Edinburgh University Press, 2010) and Kant and Spinozism: From Jacobi to Deleuze (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011).  She is also Director of the Spinoza Research Network and teaches a third year undergraduate module on Spinoza's Ethics.
