Profound and Multiple Learning Disability Network ScotlandIntroductionFollowing the publication of the review of learning disability services, The same as you? the Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability (SCLD) was established with Scottish Executive funding in April 2001. The Consortium works with people with learning disabilities, parents, carers and professionals. In line with Recommendation 29 of SAY the SCLD commissioned PAMIS to establish a national network on profound and multiple learning disabilities. The Profound and Multiple Learning Disability (PMLD) Network is for parents, carers, and professionals who have an interest in PMLD and wish to become part of a national Scottish network to exchange information and to contribute to good practice. If you would like to become part of this network, please download the attached form and follow completion instructions for both joining the Network and the Bulletin Board. Please note your username is compulsory for accessing the Bulletin Board. PMLD Network & Bulletin Board FormAimsThe aim of the PMLD Network is to bring people with an interest in profound and multiple disabilities together to exchange information and to work together to bring about change. Members of the Network include people with profound disabilities, parents, carers and professionals from throughout Scotland and elsewhere. The Network will provide a forum where you can raise issues and concerns and hopefully get some answers. Queries may be related to your particular discipline, your daughter's or son's condition, or about a common issue that affects everyone concerned with pmld such as the implications of the 'no manual handling policies'. Here are some recent requests for information and help.
