Orthopaedic Medical Technology Certificate Course

Technology has always been central to the treatment in orthopaedics and rehabilitation. The use of technology has never been greater than it is today. The number and variety of devices available now are almost bewildering. For instance, twenty-five years ago there was only one type of artificial hip and today there are more than forty. This rapid development has considerable implications for all those working in these fields.

This programme aims to develop your understanding of the basic principles involved in the development and the use of orthopaedic and medical technology. Knowledge of these principles will contribute to your ability to respond flexibly to new technological developments introduced into your workplace in the future. The programme also aims to provide an opportunity for candidates to prepare for part of the theory element of the examination for the Certificate in Orthopaedic Medical Technology awarded by the
British Orthopaedic Association.
