Design your Degree
The School offers three main degree routes:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) - for diploma and certificate qualified nurses
- Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BScM) - for diploma and certificate qualified midwives
- Bachelor of Science Health Studies (BScHS) degree for other healthcare professionals
These programmes aim to enhance your skills of critical thinking and decision-making in order to promote and improve standards of care, you will develop skills for lifelong learning and continuing professional development (CPD).
So this degree could be for you:
- if you are a Registered nurse or midwife and want to return to study
- if you are from one of the Allied Health Professions such as the Ambulance Service, Dental Hygiene, Chiropody and you don't already have a degree
Core Module
The BSc programmes comprise a core module, Developing Evidence-based Practice and optional modules. The core module must be susccessfully completed to obtain the BSc degree
What do you require?
To design your degree, you first need to determine the number of points you require. The table below gives an indication. This will be confirmed following review of your application.

How many points do I need?
To complete the degree (BScN, BScM or BScHS) you need a total of 120 points at level 3. How may you will actually need will depend on which modules and at what level you might have done in the past. You need to complete a minimum of 60 points at level 3 with us for the award of the degree. Students requiring 120 credits will need to undertake the Advancing Academic Skills module at the beginning of the programme.
