The main exhibition space for the Tayside Medical History Museum is in the foyer of the Medical School at Ninewells Hospital - turn left as you enter the main hospital concourse and you'll find it at the end of the corridor. Here we have both permanent displays and our changing exhibitions. The space is open daily 9am-5pm and by appointment at other times.
We also have various permanent displays - the DRI Memorial Wall at the far end of the main concourse (by the entrance to South Block); a display of early X-ray equipment in the Radiology department; and a display of medical portraits just past our main exhibition area in the corridor overlooking the Ian Low Centre.
Material from the collection is also used in exhibitions elsewhere on campus and further afield...

The latest exhibition at the Tayside Medical History Museum looks at how obstetric and child care has progressed from the days of high maternal and infant mortality through to some of the latest advances in diabetes, cystic fibrosis and in vitro fertilisation, with a particular emphasis on developments in Dundee and Tayside. Important historical figures such as R C Buist, Margaret Fairlie and James Walker are showcased alongside recent ground-breaking projects in tackling chilhood diabetes and cystic fibrosis.
Visit the exhibiton website for more information.

Various works of art decorate the Medical School foyer area and lecture theatres, including the two shown above. On the left is Sir William Ogilvy Dalgleish by Walter William Ouless. Dalgleish (1832-1913) was the principal benefactor of the University Medical School.
On the right is Sir John Ogilvy by R Peyton Reid (a copy of an earlier portrait by Sir George Reid). Ogilvie (1803-90) was Life Director of Dundee Lunatic Asylum and President of the Board of Directors at Dundee Royal Infirmary.
