What is the complete pituitary function test?

This test is performed to check the function of various hormone productions of the pituitary gland. It includes three different stimulation tests. (LHRH, TRH, Insulin Stress Test)

Your doctor will decide which test or tests need to be performed and to do it in combination or separately depending on the clinical assessment and the requirement of the tests.

What is the pituitary gland?

It is a small gland in the base of the brain, a few inches behind the bridge of the nose, which has major role in the control of your body hormone production.

What do I need to do before the test?

You are requested not to eat or drink anything from mid night on the day of the test. If you are on any medication, withhold taking hormone replacement therapy, steroid tablets, thyroxine tablets until the test is complete.
