The Biomedical Research Institute is an autonomous research centre within the College of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing. It creates an environment that brings together molecular and cell biologists with clinical scientists to lead research programmes that have a direct application to the study of common complex human diseases. It currently comprises 21 research groups and approximately 150 staff, providing a focus of research excellence and infrastructure within the College. The Institute is a thriving place to work and this web site gives a flavour of who we are and what we do.
Funded by Diabetes UK and the Scottish Executive’s Chief Scientist Office the study will both establish a Type 1 Diabetes biobank as a data resource for researchers and aim to develop methods for preventing Type 1 diabetes and its associated complications.
