Introductory course
Some participants may choose to start with an introduction to medical education through the study of four units (one each from curriculum development, assessment, teaching and learning and instructional materials development). Twelve credits will be awarded on completion of the units.
The Diploma involves the study of a further 20 units in addition to the completion of the Certificate. The further study will include additional core units plus optional topics. A total of 40 units (120 credits) is required for the award of the Diploma qualification.
The Master’s Degree requires more in-depth study of a topic and a total of a further 60 credits beyond the Diploma. These 60 credits can be gained after the award of the Diploma by submission of a dissertation/ project based on a programme of work in a selected area of study (a total of 180 credits).
The Centre also offers research degrees at Master’s and Doctoral level. A restricted number of PhD places are available. Candidates for these programmes should supply full details of their previous academic awards including evidence of their research abilities. Acceptance will be at the discretion of the Board of Studies of the Centre for Medical Education..
