Why a Dundee Centre for Medical Education Programme?

About the Centre

The Centre for Medical Education, Dundee, has more than 25 years’ experience of running courses in medical education and over 3,000 participants from more than 50 countries have taken part. The Dundee qualifications are recognised throughout the world. Staff under the direction of Professor Ronald Harden, come from a variety of backgrounds in the healthcare professions and education. The Centre is actively involved in innovations in medical education and has been responsible for the introduction of a number of new approaches to teaching, assessment and curriculum planning. The Centre has unique experience in the development of attractive and useful distance learning materials, producing programmes in which over 15,000 healthcare professionals have enrolled. The Dundee courses offer a cost-effective approach to meeting the needs for training teachers in the healthcare professions.

For those opting for face-to-face courses, Dundee offers a pleasant location set amidst some of the most attractive scenery in Britain. With a population of 150,000 Dundee is large enough to support the range of cultural, sporting and recreational facilities expected of a major city but small enough not to be overwhelming or impersonal for those coming to live or study here. The city has more students per head of population than any other city in Scotland.

The Centre for Medical Education is situated in an historic building overlooking the River Tay. It lies halfway between the main University campus and Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe. Close by, golfers will discover a large number of courses of a very high standard such as St Andrews; walkers will discover the beauty of Tayside’s hills and glens and everybody will discover the warmth and friendship of the Scottish people.
