Competition Rules

Eligibility

1. This competition is open to members of staff (including honorary appointments) and matriculated postgraduate students within the School of Medicine, University of Dundee.

2. Only one entry per person is allowed.

3. The subject of competition entries must reflect current research going on in the Medical School.

Submission 

1. Entrants must supply their name, divisional address, and email address.

2. Staff members must indicate the name of their employer (University of Dundee or NHS or both) and their position.

3. Postgraduate students must supply their matriculation numbers, the name of the degree for which they are registered, and their supervisors' names.

4. At the time of submission, entrants must sign a declaration that they are the creator of the submitted image.

5. It is the entrant's responsibility to ensure that all the necessary written permissions are obtained from individuals featured in an image. Identifiable individuals should not be included unless they have given informed written consent. If the individuals are patients, they must not be identifiable in any way from a competition entry. If images feature patient material, it should not be possible to identify the patient from the image.

6. CDs will not be returned. Email entries are not allowed.

7. Entries that do not conform to the entry requirements will be disqualified.

8. The organisers do not accept any responsibility for entries lost or misplaced in the postal system.

Prizes

1. The prizes must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. There will be no alternative prizes. Taxes, if any, on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prizewinner.

2. Prize-winners will be expected to make every effort to attend the prize-giving ceremony at the Discovery Days.

3. In the event of a prize not being collected after 28 days, it will be deemed to have been forfeited and the organisers reserve the right to offer the prize to another entrant.

General

1. The organisers reserve the right to cancel this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in their opinion, and if circumstances arise outside their control.

2. The organisers' decisions are final in every situation and no correspondence will be entered into.

3. The University of Dundee will not display entries on the internet but reserves the right to use or publish them in other forms of public display to promote the University and/or this or subsequent photography competitions. Copyright will remain with the photographer.

4. Entrants will be deemed to have understood the competition rules and accepted them and agree to be bound to them when entering the competition.
