Funding and Grants
Funding sources
The main source of funding in the UK comes from the government funded research councils and from charities. There are many medical charities in the UK which provide funding for research including:
- Cancer Research UK
- Tenovus
- The British Heart Foundation
- The Wellcome Trust
- The British Heart Foundation
The association for medical research charities lists most of the charities providing funding for research and provides links to their websites in the members section, as well as a guide for applying for charity research grants.
For those looking futher afield, research funding in Europe can be found from the European Council's 7th Research Framework Programme, ECNIS (Environmental Cancer Risk, Nutrition and Individual Susceptibility), as well as the European Science Foundation which has a section on funding opportunities across europe.
