Dr Alan Slade

Before I joined the University of Dundee I was a technician at Loughborough University of Technology where I worked on many research projects with Professor Jim Hewit. It was under Prof. Hewit's guidance that I obtained my MPhil and when Jim moved to Dundee I followed a year later to undertake my PhD in telemedicine for minimal access surgery.

After I obtained my PhD I became a part time and then full time member of the teaching staff in 2000.

In addition to my teaching I run the Medical Engineering Research Institute and I am also the academic co-ordinator for the department's Formula Student team.

I am a member of ABCM and also the International Representative for their bio-engineering committee. I am on the IPC for the Mechatronics Forum conferences.

I am the ERASMUS academic link co-ordinator for Mechanical Engineering, and presently undertake exchange teaching in Germany as part of the ERASMUS scheme.
