CoursesBasic ScienceAcademic scientific staff in the Division contribute to the teaching of the Physiological Sciences BSc in the Faculty of life Sciences and the Pharmacology BSc in the Faculty of Medicince, Dentisty and Nursing via lecturing and practical supervision and honours supervsion. Clincial ScienceThe Division's major MB and ChB clinical teaching commitments are in phase 2 and 3, the reproductive system, growth and development courses in year 3 and Child Health and Obsterics & Gynaecology courses in year 4. The Division has had increasing involvment in the provision of organised and self-prosposed Student Selected Components (SSC) particularly in Phase 2 but latterly in Phase 3 and also in year 4 projects. The scope and the quality of the Division's Phase 2 SSc has been commended by the external assessor during the quality assurance processs. Currently, the Division supervises 11% of the medical school's Phase 2 SSC and 24% of the medical school's Phase 3 SSC. It is our intention to increase the proportion of SCC being supervised by the Division in both Phases 2 and 3 respectively. Dr Gary Mires is Phase 3 convenor and with his colleuagues he has been repsonsible for initiatives such as the introduction of multi-professional education programmes, teaching clincs and study guides. These initiatives will keep the Division at the forefront of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentisty and Nursing's teaching development. Individual members of the Division also contribute to postgraduate courses within the faculty.
