The thinking behind the club is that opportunities for colleagues from across the university to share good practice and new ideas are limited. With no real staff club, new members of staff have found making contacts difficult unless they attend CPD events etc; and when they do, they often find the coffee break to be one of the most useful parts of the event as there are lots of opportunities to make new contacts and engage in useful conversations. This is also true for those colleagues who are not so new.
Why a 'fry-up'? Well, its a nice mixture isn't it, and it can be different things for different people, and usually is a rare treat! So it just seemed to fit with our idea.
We hope an informal get together, focused on a theme introduced at each event, will be an opportunity for dissemination of new ideas and teaching practice with the emphasis on informal chat.
The Fry-up Club will meet on the fourth Friday of every month. Tea, coffee and buns will be provided but bring your own lunch.
