Other interfaces to the Library catalogue

The information in the Library catalogue may be accessed in a number of ways:

External access via Z39-50

Bibliographic software, such as RefWorks, ProCite, Reference Manager and other tools, can connect to the catalogue and perform searches using a method known as Z39-50. We are unable to provide instructions on exactly how to set up your software, but the settings needed to enable connection are set out below:

Basic settings

These settings are the most important ones to get right. You will probably be able to ignore the other sections.

Hostname: library.dundee.ac.uk
Port: 9991
Database name: DUNPUBLIC
Character set: UTF-8 (Unicode)

Attributes

The following attributes are supported:

Find requests: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 21, 31, 54, 63, 1003, 1007, 1016, 1018, 1032, 1035
Scan requests: 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 14, 21, 31, 54, 1000, 1003, 1007, 1018, 1032
Sorting: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 31, 1002, 1003, 1004, 1005, 1006
