Asian Partners

The University as a whole also has exchange agreements with several institutions in Asia. Law School students may participate in the annual application process run by the International Office to study law at any of the following partners:

Chinese University of Hong Kong (China): The Chinese University of Hong Kong, dating from 1963, is situated in the rural "New Territories" on the mainland adjacent to Hong Kong Island. It has 20,000 students, including 3,000 from elsewhere, and operates a college system. Teaching is in English. Hong Kong Island and the adjacent coast, including Kowloon and the "New Territories", form the semi-autonomous Hong Kong Special Administrative Region within the People's Republic of China. Hong Kong was a British colony for many years, returned to China in 1997.

Griffith (Australia): Griffith University, based in Brisbane, Queensland, was founded in 1971 and has nearly 40,000 students, many from other countries. It is spread over five campuses, and the Law School is split between the Nathan (10,000 students) and Gold Coast (12,000 students) campuses. Brisbane is the state capital of Queensland, and one of Australia's biggest cities with approaching two million inhabitants. This exchange is not currently available.

Murdoch (Australia): Murdoch University, in Perth, Western Australia, opened in 1975. It has 15,000 students, with 3,000 from overseas, in three campuses, including the South Street campus, 15 km south of central Perth, where the Law School is situated. Perth is the state capital of Western Australia and one of Australia's biggest cities with a population of one and a half million people.

Newcastle (Australia): Newcastle University, in Newcastle, New South Wales, dates from 1965, and has 26,000 students, of whom 3,500 are from other countries. The Law School is on the Callaghan campus, 12 km west of the city centre. Newcastle is 100 miles north of Sydney on the Hunter River with some one and a half million people.

Canberra (Australia): Australian National University, Canberra.

Queensland (Australia): James Cook University, Queensland.
