Biography
Cowan Ervine is an honorary teaching fellow having been a lecturer and senior lecturer since joining the Faculty of Law in 1972 after qualifying as a solicitor in Northern Ireland. He was a visiting scholar and visiting professor at the University of Santa Clara, California on the Fulbright Programme.
He was a member of the Scottish Consumer Council from 1986 - 94, a member of the Sheriff Court Rules Council from 1990 - 2000. He is Scottish editor of Butterworths Trading and Consumer Law.
Teaching
Research
Cowan Ervine's research is principally in the area of Consumer Law.
His
Consumer Law in Scotland is now in its fourth edition and recent articles have dealt with remedies and quality standards in relation to the supply of goods. In addition, he has written on dispute resolution, particularly as it affects consumers.
