Biography

David Brand is a Senior Lecturer and Director of Studies of the Diploma in Legal Practice. He graduated from the University of Dundee with First Class Honours in 1972 and was admitted as a Solicitor and Notary Public in 1974. He was a partner in a firm of solicitors practising in Tayside from 1975 until 1997. He has extensive experience of private practice and has been a member of the Council of Law Society of Scotland, Dean of the Faculty of Solicitors and Procurators in Dundee, Chairman of Tayside Solicitors Property Centre, a part-time Chairman of Social Security Tribunals and a Scottish civil legal aid reporter.

In 1997 he was appointed a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Dundee and he was appointed Director of Studies of the Diploma in Legal Practice in 2000. He has published various articles on professional practice matters and given papers at various professional conferences and seminars.
