The Law and Governance programme at Dundee introduces students to the idea of a multilayered system of formal government at national, European and international levels.
The Law School is the home of the Centre for Freedom of Information, a joint venture with the Scottish Information Commissioner. Students on the Law and Government LLM may attend the annual seminar programme, which brings together experts and professionals in the field from across the UK.
Principles of Public International Law provides a broad introduction to institutional mechanisms of government while UN Human Rights and Regional Human Rights Systems offer a more detailed analysis of how these institutions work in practice in the area of human rights protection.
A different perspective on government in its different layers and of the relative roles of public and private mechanisms of regulation is given in Banking & Financial Services. Students may also select from the broad portfolio of options dealing with corporate law, international law and human rights law.
