The method of assessment is 50% coursework (2 essays worth 20% and 30%) and 50% written examination.
The module aims to give students advanced knowledge and understanding of the sources, subjects and operation of the international legal system. Specifically it aims: to develop critical understanding and knowledge of the international legal system, how it operates, the subjects of the law, sources of law and their application; to promote a critical approach to Public International Law; and to facilitate the development of transferable analytical and research skills.
It will be of interest to students who wish to work in the area of international law. Given that many if not all areas of domestic law are shaped by international law, this module will also be of interest to students who wish to work in other areas but need and understanding of how international law works.
