Taught Masters Degrees: International Law of Marine Resources

Module Convenor: Elizabeth Kirk (e.a.kirk@dundee.ac.uk) Room 4.04

The class is taught by a series of seminars and independent research tasks.  It will involve a minimum of 16 contact hours.  The method of assessment is 50% coursework and 50% written examination.

The module aims to give students advanced knowledge and understanding of the sources, subjects and operation of the international legal system.  Specifically it aims

• To inculcate critical understanding and knowledge of the laws and issues pertaining to marine resources
• To inculcate critical understanding and knowledge of the framework and mechanisms of the international legal system with particular reference to marine resources
• To facilitate the development of transferable analytical and research skills
• To promote a critical approach to this area of law
