Information about Postgraduate Programmes

Taught Masters Degrees: Individual Criminal Liability in International Criminal Law

Module Convenor: Mark Mackarel (m.mackarel@dundee.ac.uk) Room 3.19

The module is delivered through an introductory talk, eight seminars and a revision class. Seminars will include group discussion and presentations from students involving preparation prior to and during classes. The module is assessed through coursework (50%) and examination (50%).

Liability for international crimes such as genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity has developed considerably since the first faltering efforts were made to hold individuals to account following World War I. This module will examine the progress of the law and institutions in this field and critically assess the body of law that has emerged from international tribunals, including the current work of International Criminal Court.
